Hello,
I am searching for one to four like-minded folks to search for an ideal house in the Los Altos -> San Carlos corridor. I currently rent month-to-month so I’d like to be a bit patient, find the right housemates, the right house, and then pounce when the time is right.
Why:
In the last 10 years or so I’ve lived with a variety of roommates. Some good, some bad, but most acquired passively (i.e. met via craigslist room-available ad or the like). My current living situation is tolerable but not ideal and I’d like to proactively find as close to an ideal living situation as possible with people who share my interests in healthy living. This is not to say we all need be best friends, but more philosophical alignment in housemates would be nice!
About Me:
I am a 31 yo straight male, tolerant of all genders, sexual preferences, ethnicities, and philosophies. I work on the Stanford Campus as a research analyst. I attempt to live a healthy lifestyle, eating a paleo style diet, working out, riding bikes, and heading to the mountains. I do enjoy a treat here and there but 80% of my discipline stems from omission, so I don’t keep ice cream in the freezer if you know what I mean ☺. I try and pay attention to sustainable living practices RE: recycling, compost, energy efficiency, etc… and I welcome the opportunity to learn more and practice green living. I have an 11 year old Lab Mix Dog. He is very sweet, well behaved, and gets along very well with other dogs. I am allergic to cats. I enjoy cooking, reading, watching movies, and select TV shows and sporting events. I am not a partier though I enjoy heading out now and then or having friends over for food/wine gatherings. I prefer to handle housing issues up front, respectfully, and honestly while avoiding passive-aggressive “drama”.
About the House:
Move in date sometime in the September 1st to November 1st window. 2-5 bedrooms (myself plus 1-4 additional housemates). Ideally located west of El Camino (mostly for better bike ride from the house access), though east of El Camino in parts of Mountain View/Los Altos, Palo Alto, and Menlo Park could work. A house with a yard, on a relatively quiet street, with hardwood flooring presents an ideal setting for my dog (and perhaps yours). Depending on your furniture ownership, unfurnished, partially furnished, or fully furnished could work, though I prefer a relatively uncluttered utilitarian setup as it creates a sense of space. A decent kitchen with stove, oven, and plenty of counter space works well for food prep. Hi speed internet is a must, though I’d like to avoid cable/satellite TV, which doesn’t preclude having a nice TV setup utilizing dvd/blueray/Netflix/slingbox/appleTV or the like. I do have 2 bikes, skis, and other outdoor equipment (I imagine you’ll have some gear as well) so storage in the form of a garage or shed helps. Access to nearby parks/dogparks is a plus. I am willing to pay up to $1000/mo including utilities.
Who You Are:
⋅A like-minded person interested in your own wellness and that of others
⋅Active, healthy, and perhaps a dog-owner who wants a daytime playmate for our canine friends
⋅25-40 yo Professional or Student
⋅Significant others and house-guests are fine in moderate doses (i.e. let’s not have an additional roommate or a parade of strangers)
⋅Respectful, drama-free and interested in hanging out now and then for a bbq, movie night, etc…
Who You Are Not:
⋅Smoker, heavy drinker, drug user, non-dog-lover, sedentary bad TV watcher, passive-aggressive miserable, extreme night-owl, unreasonably messy or lazy
⋅Someone with a definitive move-in date. Ideally we can wait for an ideal place and not force feed ourselves an undesirable house.
If interested please send me an email with a description of yourself and any questions you have. If we’re on the same wavelength we can set up a time/place to meet and strategize.
Thanks!
