Research Study Offers Free Experimental Treatment for Eating Disorders
A new Eating Disorder treatment study at Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry is looking for adult volunteers. Please see the message below and the attached flyer for more information. Feel free to forward this email to your friends, family, and colleagues.
The study is evaluating the Symptom Reduction Program (SRP). The SRP is a promising new computer-based treatment that has been found to be effective for many people suffering from anxiety disorders and there is some evidence to suggest that it could be effective for women with eating disorders as well. Women participating in this study will complete eight 15-minute sessions over one month (2 times per week for 4 weeks).
Participation involves coming to our office for an initial assessment and completing a brief computer-based attention program that changes the way the brain processes harmful/maladaptive information
Who can participate?
• Females between the ages of 18-35
• Experiencing disordered eating symptoms
• English must be a first language
The treatment is free. All treatment sessions occur at Stanford University, and are scheduled twice per week. Recruitment efforts will continue during the next two months ONLY.
