Avedon's oversized images of working-class Westerners continue to generate heated debate and are classics in the history of photography. This national touring show, presented on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the initial exhibition, provides the opportunity to reexamine this compelling group of photographs and to explore the realities and myths of the American West. Catalogue available. In the American West is organized by the Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, Texas. Generous funding for the exhibition is provided by the Katrine M. Deakins and Crystelle Waggoner Charitable Trusts, Bank of America.
