The fact is that music is a big part of most of our lives. From time to time, we may even involuntarily hum to our favorite tunes without even noticing it; after all, singing out loud is a natural way for us to express and release our emotions.
Stanford has a lot of music-related clubs and organizations, but one club it does not have is one that allows students to share their solo voices with the rest of the community. While singing or playing an instrument with a group is very rewarding in its own way, being able to share your own interpretation or your delivery of a mainstream popular/rock/R&B/[you name it] song with your friends and a broader audience is a whole different experience that cannot be found (to a significant extent) in any of the existing music organizations at Stanford.
The truth is, while there are those who regularly sing to audiences and those who don't, there is not a Stanford-based venue in which one can comfortably showcase one's *solo voice through popular/rock/R&B/[you name it] songs* to a broader audience. You may ask why this is significant, and our answer is that the people around you would actually enjoy a beautifully-interpreted song by a fellow classmate. The biggest hurdle to overcome is that this song of yours has to reach their ears without you being defeated by the awkwardness you will likely feel when singing out loud in public alone.

With all that said, we have put up this posting to look for those interested in joining us in creating a new club at Stanford that will (through online exposure and concerts) help draw out the passive talent hidden in the *solo voices* at Stanford through *mainstream popular/rock/R&B/[you name it] songs*. There are many successful shows and channels out there demonstrating the great support for music talent found in the mass public, and we feel it is time we bring this to Stanford. This will definitely be a lively and fun addition to our already-awesome culture.
