The Pixel Project (http://www.thepixelproject.net), a global volunteer-led virtual nonprofit using social media and virtual tools to end Violence Against Women, is looking for a web developer based in or near Stanford University who can finish the technical development of our flagship campaign site, which aims to raise US$1 million for the U.S.’s National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, The Pixel Project and 6 other anti-violence against women charities.

The ideal candidate will have experience of developing PHP/MySQL back-ends and interactive front-ends and user interfaces (using Javascript-based technology of their choice), and will be looking for a role where they can make a substantial impact to a worthwhile non-profit cause. They will need to be able to complete the project requirements by the end of August 2013, after which they’ll be willing to contribute a few hours a month for regular maintenance of the site. The successful candidate will initially meet with and work under the supervision of the lead web developer (who is based at Stanford) but will be expected to take ownership of the project once they’re up-to-speed. It is essential that they possess the self-motivation, initiative, technical ability and passion for the cause to drive the project to completion.

In return, The Pixel Project is offering $1500 for successful completion of the key project requirements (which should take ~40-50 hours), along with the possibility of the role turning into a salaried position (subject to how fast The Pixel Project moves beyond start-up mode and becomes financially stable), good references, the opportunity to network with 50 volunteers spread over 4 continents, 10 timezones and 15 cities, and the satisfaction of knowing that your efforts may well save the lives of women and children worldwide.

If you’re interested, please send your resume, examples of past work, and a 300 word statement on why you’re a perfect match for The Pixel Project to regina@thepixelproject.net and ali.bobby@gmail.com
