Position: Front end web developer
Contract, 20-30 hours/week, approximately 4-5 months beginning late June, with possibility of full 12-month employment
Department: Vice Provost for Online Learning/Department of Language and Modern Literature
Our is currently looking for a contract Front End Web Developer to help us create, develop, and launch a platform for users to engage with sources, documents, images, and videos related to major historical events.
Responsibilities
Code new skin and feature enhancements
Turn mockups into standards-compliant HTML
Incorporate dynamic annotation and linking functionality from other, existing platforms
Identify and address bugs/performance issues in order to deliver the highest-quality product for users.
Work with multiple browser versions (IE, FireFox, Safari, Chrome).
Collaborate effectively as part of a cross-functional team including design, QA, development and support
Requirements
Solid to Expert level HTML 5 and CSS 3 skills.
A thorough understanding of cross-browser/cross-platform web development.
Proficiency in Javascript and Javascript frameworks a plus .
Excellent analytical/troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of current UI/UX design and development trends.
Attention to detail and quality oriented.
Excellent English writing and communication skills.
Independent and self-motivated individual who takes initiative and ownership of projects.
Experience on client-side optimization for high traffic, large scale web sites
Experience with one or more UI debugging tools (Firebug, Chrome Developer Tools)
