Contract: 20-30 hours/week, approximately 4-5 months beginning late June, with possibility of full 12-month employment
Department: Vice Provost for Online Learning/Division of Languages, Culture, and Literature

We are currently looking for a contract Back End Web Developer to help us create, develop, and launch a platform for users to engage with sources, documents, images, and videos related to major historical events. We will be integrating other current open source platforms such as Annotation Studio, MediaThread, and Scalar, likely run on Drupal. Up for the challenge?

Responsibilities
• Incorporate dynamic annotation and linking functionality from other, existing platforms
• Identify and address bugs/performance issues in order to deliver the highest-quality product for users.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a cross-functional team including design, QA, development and support
• You will be working directly with the VPOL staff and other digital humanities experts on campus, so it will be a well supported, educational learning experience.

Requirements

• A thorough understanding of cross-browser/cross-platform web development.
• Proficiency in Javascript and Javascript frameworks
• Proficiency in either PHP, Ruby on Rails, or Python
• Knowledge of Drupal a plus, though can learn on the job
• Excellent analytical/troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and quality oriented.
• Independent and self-motivated individual who takes initiative and ownership of projects.
• Great team player
