OFFICE ASSISTANT, MEMORIAL CHURCH, STANFORD UNIVERSITY (Contingent; Not Benefits-Eligible)
The Office for Religious Life (ORL), located in the historic Round Room of Memorial Church, Stanford University, is seeking an Office Assistant to serve as the initial contact for callers and visitors and provide general office support. Success in this position will require a high level of flexibility, the ability to function within a team setting, and strong customer service skills.
This is a year-round, contingent, non-benefitted hourly position, up to 19 hours per week at a rate of $14.10 per hour. Desired start date August 19, 2013. Please note: The final candidate will need to successfully pass a background check to be considered for this position.
Qualifications
Required:
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a customer service oriented environment
• Must be a self starter and able to quickly adjust priorities
• Ability to manage multiple phone lines with excellent phone manner
• Ability to interact in a professional and helpful manner with a wide constituency of internal and external visitors.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Familiarity with standard office equipment and practices.
• Experience and comfortable working on a computer, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, database applications, email, internet
• Accurate typing skills.
• High School Diploma.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Desirable:
• Experience working in an academic environment.
• Experience working on a mac computer
• Stanford University experience.
• Two year college degree.
Responsibilities
• Provide information to the public. Greet, assist and screen visitors. Maintain reception area.
• Answer phones, refer calls appropriately and accurately, and manage multiple phone lines.
• Sort and distribute mail.
• Provide hospitality and cleanup service for the Round Room and kitchenette.
• Order and restock supplies; maintain inventories as needed
• Assist in record-keeping, filing, and storage of electronic documents.
• Other duties as assigned
