Employment Opportunities – Department of Global Ecology, Carnegie Institution for Science & Dept. EESS Stanford

The Department of Global Ecology is a seeking several undergraduates or co-term students to assist with various administrative and research activities within the Field Lab (Dept. Global Ecology/Dept. EESS). Our lab is broadly focused on global environmental change, biogeochemistry, ecology, and renewable energy systems. All positions require students who are eligible for federal work-study.

1. Student Data and Library Information Specialist
Assists in lab administrative and organizational activities related to the retrieval, management, interpretation, and non-computational data mining of scientific studies, in part, to be used in a meta-analysis. No experience required. Must be reliable and highly organized with ability to pay great attention to detail.

2. Student Lab Manager
Assists in the facilitation of student-led research projects, including various data entry, data analysis, laboratory work, and project management. Updates and creates content for social media account, website, and blog to assist in the dissemination of science-related news to the Stanford community and general public. No experience required.

3. Student Biogeochemistry Lab Technician
Assists in soil biogeochemistry research projects, including various data entry, data analysis, and laboratory work. Previous lab experience desired but not required.

4. Survey Research Assistant
Searches agricultural databases (e.g., USDA) and websites for data related to “onfarm” renewable energy systems and establishes farmer and private landowner contacts. No experience required.

5. Student Geographic Information (GIS) Systems Technician
Provides technical support to the GIS Analyst in spatial data access, management, analysis, and production. Research focuses on quantifying relationships between land and solar energy development. Experience working with GIS/remote sensing software applications and environments required (e.g., coursework).



All positions require a minimum of eight hours per week compensated by Level II wages (starting at $13.85, Wage Scale).
