Before there were movies, operas filled the "big spectacle" slot in 18th and 19th centuries. This general course will introduce you to operatic masterpieces, such as Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro," Beethoven's "Fidelio" and Verdi's "Otello" and will explain why operas continue to fascinate our society.
