Hi, my name is Bradlee. I'm going to be a sophomore this year and would love to help you learn Portuguese or Spanish, whatever your level or proficiency may be. I speak both languages with native level fluency and have a very deep understanding of the uniquely complex yet highly rewarding grammar of each. Any aspect of either language that you may wish to improve, be it grammar, vocabulary, spoken fluency, writing, etc., I am eager to help. I charge $45 / hour and will gladly work with you to fit your schedule. If you aren't satisfied with my tutoring at the end of your first session, let me know and I will refund your money.
Portuguese:
After falling in love with Portuguese last fall, I completed 1.5 years of accelerated Portuguese during my freshman year, reaching fluency well before the end of the school year. I then was awarded a scholarship to study in Brazil and spent my summer in Rio de Janeiro living with a Brazilian host family and taking advanced Portuguese classes at a college in Rio, six hours a day, five days a week. With hundreds of hours of classroom contact with native Brazilians as my professors (both at Stanford and in Brazil), hundreds of more hours of personal dedication to reading, writing, listening, grammar study, Portuguese linguistics in general, and speaking outside the classroom, and a month and a half of complete immersion in Brazilian culture, I am really excited to help you learn Portuguese.
Spanish:
I began studying Spanish 5 years ago and immediately fell in love with it. I taught myself to fluency within three years, scoring a 5 on the Advanced Placement Spanish Exam during that third year of study. I actively continue my studies of the language everyday, listening to and watching the news in Spanish, reading in Spanish, and studying Spanish linguistics. I spent 3 weeks studying the language in Barcelona during the summer of 2011 and constantly practice with my dozens of friends from Spanish speaking countries. I would love to help you learn Spanish.
