Accounting Assistant ($15 - $20 per hour, DOE)

The Stanford Daily corporation is seeking a temporary part-time Accounting Assistant to provide support to our Accounting Manager. Initial duties will be focused on Accounts Receivable. This position will start as soon as possible in September at approximately 10-15 hours/week. There may be future potential for transitioning into full time employment with additional accounting responsibilities beginning in January.

Initial Primary Responsibilities:

• Review current sales data on system software to correct any errors or omissions
• Balance and transfer sales information and create invoices in Quickbooks
• Invoice customers from Quickbooks and provide each customer with proof of purchase via email
• Handle customer billing questions and research problems with the assistance of other departments
• Enter payments into Quickbooks
• Review aging report and assist in collection of past due accounts
• Send monthly statements from Quickbooks
• Customer file maintenance in Quickbooks
• Assist with special projects in the accounting department

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Proficient in Quickbooks, Excel, and Word (Experience with Salesforce is a plus but not required)
• Sharp attention to detail and accuracy
• Problem solving initiative
• Strong communication skills
• Prefer accounting degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial record keeping and general accounting responsibilities.
