My name is Luke Lorentzen, and I am a senior in the film department at Stanford University. I am currently working on my thesis, which is a documentary about the variety of barbershops and hair salons throughout the five boroughs of New York City. I am essentially studying these spaces as hubs of community gathering and hope for the film to capture the ways in which different ethnicities, classes, genders, ages, and individuals do their hair.

I am looking for somebody to help with the translation of various conversations in a Senegalese hair braiding salon. The language spoken is a mix of French and Wolof. We would start with about 2-4 hours of work with the possibility of more hours. No translation/film experience needed. $15 an hour. Please email for more information!

Thank you so much,
Luke Lorentzen
