Job Description
The student position is responsible for assisting in the efficient daily operation of the Residential Education's West Campus Office. This will require providing general clerical support, delivering, picking up and distributing items across campus and supporting houses with event set up. In addition, this position will need to communicate University policies and procedures, as well as handle complex work projects, confidential documents and questions from students, parents, faculty and staff. This position will pay $14 an hour for approximately 8hrs a week

Qualifications
The student assistant position requires strong interpersonal skills, skilled oral and written communication, and organizational skills. The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure with frequent interruptions is very important. The position requires demonstrated ability to take initiative and use good judgment in handling unexpected situations. Ability to calmly and maturely handle complex work projects and confidential situations is a must. In addition, the ability to work successfully with a diverse group of people and interact effectively with students, faculty and staff of different ethnic, racial, religious, sexual orientation and cultural backgrounds is most important. This position must be dependable and on time for shifts. Must have experience with Macintosh computers and Microsoft Office, Word, and especially Excel. Some experience with AV equipment is also desirable. We look for a proactive individual with a willingness to learn; previous office experience preferred.

Expectations
• Keep Supervisor informed of office activities, problems, and concerns.
• Complete office tasks promptly and accurately in accordance with the request of professional staff members.
• Assume other responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
• Be on time when it is your shift and notify your supervisor ahead of time if you will be late or will not be able to come in when scheduled.
• Answer phones, and attend to office visitors as needed.
• Ask for help when questions come up.
• Provide helpful customer service to students, staff, and faculty.
• Take initiative to complete daily tasks in the office, and proactively check in with supervisor to receive other tasks.
• Conduct yourself professionally in the office.
• On occasion student assistants may be asked to assist with events after normal business hours.
• Student assistants may occasionally encounter confidential situations during their time in the office; these must remain confidential and should not be discussed outside of the Residential Education office.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances and needs of the department.

Regular Duties
Purchasing office supplies and services for events
You may be asked to make purchases on behalf of the department for the various offices on West Campus or events using the area Pcard. This will require good judgment and the collection of any necessary material/information to clear the transaction later.

Information Research
Student Assistants will often be asked to find information for area staff. This can include information regarding administrative guidelines using Stanford Administrative Guides, information on resources for students and staff, events, or background information for projects staff members are working on.

Completing financial documentation for area
You will be expected to help complete the documentation process for some of the areas financial transactions. You will work with your supervisor to learn the guidelines and expectations of this process.

Support the area Program Associates
A large portion of your responsibilities will be to work with the local Program Associates as they plan for activities for the houses they support.

Event assistance
There may be occasions where you are asked to be at events to provide on-site support for staff organizing events

Photo copying, printing, & faxing:
You will be asked to make copies, complete large print jobs or fax documents from time to time.

General Administrative work
Students will assist the Area Associate to complete the necessary logistical and administrative work related to the daily operations of west campus and special projects lead by west campus staff
