There will be three openings in June at Tia Reina's Daycare in Palo Alto. This is a great opportunity to get into an absolutely wonderful (and, compared to other options in the area, affordable) daycare. Tia Reina's is a play-based, Spanish immersion in-home daycare, and provides incredible, personalized care. While it is play-based, the kids learn a great deal through songs and teaching, including numbers, colors, days of week, months, etc. The hours are 8:00-5:30 M-F.
Two of the openings are from older children who are moving on to kindergarten. The third spot is becoming open because my position at Stanford is ending, and my family and I are moving out of state for my new position. To give a bit about our experience, my now 18-month-old son has been at Tia Reina's since he was 3-months-old, and we're heartbroken to be taking him out of Tia Reina's. He utterly adores the caregivers (and other children), and it has been fantastic to send him to "school" every day knowing that he is happy, loved, and learning. I'll also mention that neither my husband nor I speak Spanish, and, although the daycare is Spanish immersion, we've had no problems communicating about our son's day or various things that have popped up (e.g., a mild egg allergy, etc).
