We are seeking an afterschool babysitter for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 2:45 to 5:45 p.m. The sitter will provide supervision, transportation and homework help for our 11-year-old son, who has a physical disability that moderately impairs his mobility and speech. He is highly independent, but needs help with some kitchen tasks and with setting up his homework materials. This position may be of particular interest to students considering careers in physical, occupational or speech therapy, but that is not required--no special training is necessary.
The sitter also will provide transportation for our 15-year-old daughter. Extra hours are available from time to time. This could be an excellent long-term opportunity for the right person.
Essential tasks:
Walk child home from school
Prepare or assist with preparing snack
Oversee set-up of materials for homework and trombone practice; assist when asked
Drive children to and from local appointments
Help around the house as time permits (examples: doing dishes, folding laundry)
Qualifications:
Experienced childcare provider
Dependable, supportive, patient, enthusiastic
Excellent driving record
Safe, reliable car
Good references
Excellent English-language skills
