CANTONESE COURSES AT STANFORD FOR MANDARIN SPEAKERS AND LEARNERS:
Beginning Conversational Cantonese for Mandarin speakers (Chinese Language 15M, 2 units; TTh, 11:30-12;20)
• For beginning students who are native speakers or learners of Mandarin
• Vocabulary for daily activities and comparative grammar and pronunciation
Intermediate Conversational Cantonese (Chinese Language 18, 2 units; MW, 10:30-11:20)
• For high-beginning and low-intermediate students from all language backgrounds
• More complex sentence structures and vocabulary across a wide range of topics, e.g. popular music, cuisine, education, driving, healthcare, and crimes
Cantonese Through Films (Chinese Language 20A, 2 units; MW, 11:30-12;20)
• For mid- to high- intermediate students from all language backgrounds
• Cantonese movies, TV dramas, news stories, documentaries, and Cantopop
Graduate students who want graduate units can sign up for one of the following two courses but attend one of the above courses:
• Chinese Language 394, Section 3, 1-2 units
• Chinese Language 395, Section 3, 2 units
