There is a position opening in the Jonikas lab at the Carnegie Institution for Science (on Stanford campus). Our lab does high throughput genetics in the green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. We use a huge number of specialized petri dishes, and to save money and decrease waste we recycle the dishes by cleaning them out and having them irradiated.
We need a detail-oriented person with good communication skills to help keep this recycling effort going. We seek to offer this job to someone looking for their first experience working in a biology lab, so that it may be a step forward or a foot in the door. This means the ideal applicant is a who an undergraduate interested in biology. Previous experience in a biology laboratory it not required. The hourly commitment is small, but adherence to an agreed upon schedule will be crucial.
