There is a position opening in the Jonikas lab at the Carnegie Institution for Science (on Stanford campus). Our lab does high throughput genetics in the green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. We use a huge number of specialized petri dishes, and to save money and decrease waste we recycle the dishes by cleaning them out and having them irradiated.
We need a detail-oriented person with good communication skills to help keep this recycling effort going. We seek to offer this job to someone looking for their first experience working in a biology lab, so that it may be a step forward or a foot in the door. This means the ideal applicant is an undergraduate interested in biology with little to no previous experience. The hourly commitment is small, but adherence to an agreed upon schedule will be crucial.
