On-campus Part-time Research Assistant Needed

Project Description:
Professor Xueguang Zhou (Sociology Department at Stanford) and his research team are working on a project on the spatial mobility of government officials in China’s bureaucratic organizations and its implications for governance and economic development. We are now looking for a part-time research assistant to help with data cleaning and statistical analysis.
Tasks/Duties:
• Collecting and cleaning data (most of the data have already been collected, but we need a research assistant that can help us to clean the data using STATA (if you are more familiar with R or other software, that’s also fine))
• Help with programming in:
• Visualization of spatial mobility of high-rank officials;
• Network analysis (we need to analyze networks at several levels, i.e., network of officials, network of bureaus, network of administrative units, etc.)
Requirements:
• Stanford undergraduate student (funding is available ONLY for Stanford undergraduates)
• Programming skill, familiar with some statistical software such as STATA, R, Matlab, Python, etc.
• Have some knowledge of network analysis and spatial visualization.
• Some familiarity with Chinese character is preferable but not required.
Wage:
• $15 per hour, maximum 10 hours per week (standard Stanford undergraduate rate)
• Duration: winter, spring quarters, and (possibly) summer quarter
