We are a group of Stanford graduate students and post-docs (early to late 30s) currently living in a house in Palo Alto, which our landlords have decided to sell, so we are looking to maintain our family atmosphere and move together. I have an 11yr old shepherd/lab mix who will be moving with us. He is a certified animal assisted therapy dog (we volunteer both at Stanford and the VA hospital) and comes with excellent references from our previous landlords as well as obedience and temperament testing which is required for the therapy certification. I'm happy to pay whatever you would like for a pet deposit.
In addition, we currently have 4 hens and a hive of honeybees that we would prefer to bring with us if that might be possible. We have City of Palo Alto permits for the hens/bees and in order to transfer the permit to our new home will need written approval from all neighbors (so even if you would be ok with it, we would still need to ensure the neighbors are ok with it too). Our current neighbors rave about the productivity of their fruit trees since we moved in with our bees! Although the dog is non-negotiable, we're confident we can find an excellent home for our hens and bees with friends if our future landlords/neighbors are not in favor of them.
I am also a landlord (I own a home in Pennsylvania that I rent out to graduate students at Penn State) and I understand the concerns a landlord might have regarding animals at the property. I can assure you that we greatly value caring for our home and would love to take great care of your property. I know what a landlord wants and expects from a great tenant and that's exactly what you'll get from us:)
Please contact me if you have a reasonably priced home available for rent (we are currently looking in the range of $5000-7000 depending on the number of bedrooms, but are negotiable based on the house and amenities). We would be happy to sign a multiple year lease and are flexible for move in starting May 1st.
