Hello!
I'm J, a 2nd-year PhD at the graduate school of education here at Stanford. My landlords have recently decided to move back into their home after I've been living here for over eight years, so they're kickin' me out over the holidays. Rude! (Donald Trump voice). I've been scrambling to find a place nearby with move in date somewhere between the middle of December to January 1st. I love my bicycle commute to class, and I'd like to keep it if possible. I'm also looking to move into a place that lacks the impersonal nature of most ads that are currently on craigslist. If I have to read another ad that reads, "please be quiet," "no overnight guests," I might just snap.
A little bit about myself:
I'm a former high school English teacher of 10 years. I worked for eight of those in East Side San Jose at an all Latino charter.
I'm a he/his/him pronoun white cismale who tries his best to be woke af but recognizes that often means shutting his mouth.
I'm a terrible musician currently trying to learn a song on guitar to play to his ex-girlfriend. I also know how to play Adam Sandler's Hannukah song, badly, and don't remember most of the lyrics past the first verse.
I cook much better than I play guitar or sing, and I am an avid trail runner and just generally hyper-active outdoors person (backpacking, mountain biking, back/side country skiing). I just got my pass to Alpine/Squaw.
I own 21' 1969 Santa Fe travel trailer that doesn't get as much use as it should. It lives at my mother's house, nearby. But I wouldn't mind having a home with a driveway I could park it in. . . But yes, I'm one of those mythical born-and-raised locals. I am very close to my family as I manage my mother's affairs and have to stay in the area.
Oh and the dealbreaker? I live with a 13-year-old, overweight and blind cat named Sid. He's more of a tiny bear with the disposition of a throw pillow, but I understand allergies are allergies: https://www.facebook.com/syd.kwan
I'm sure there are other things to talk about, but if you'd like to learn more why don't you please reach out to me and save me from the insanity that is a Bay Area housing search.
Here are links to websites that aggregate uncomfortable amounts of my personal data:

I look forward to hearing from you.
