Faculty and graduate students in media psychology and computer science are
working to develop a platform for measuring moment-by-moment changes in
the information that people see and use on laptop computers and
smartphones. Our group is supported by the Cyber Social Initiative at
Stanford. We have already published initial studies about task switching
on digital devices
(e.g.,http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jcom.12070/full), and
have produced some intriguing findings about how people now use digital
media (e.g., Stanford students switch screens on their laptop computers,
on average, every 10 to 20 seconds).

We are seeking to extend our platform to a range of devices, and to build
database tools to store and manipulate second-by-second changes over
extended periods, for up to several months. Currently, we are working with
a mix of devices and operating systems, and need help from programmers who
can help build iOS apps.

We can pay $25+/hr, depending on expertise and experience. Work can start
immediately.
