JOB PURPOSE:
The Safety Office intern will work closely with the BGM/SEM Safety Manager and Safety Specialist performing operational support and processing data from a source document into a computer system and verify entries for accuracy and completeness. Assist with gathering and editing electronic data and web site content development. Work is usually performed under some supervision and at times independently within general guidelines.

CORE DUTIES*:
• Conducts research of information as requested. Compiles and edits the information in electronic format. Draft content used to engage constituents and make it visually appealing/user friendly. Curate digital content.
• Scans paper documentation into electronic files. Catalogs the information and verifies accuracy. As needed, enter data from data sheets or charts into a database and/or manual filing system using specific, standard instructions.
• Determine appropriate action to be taken for duplicate, inaccurate, or unclear information.
• Maintain computerized and manual logs and files in accordance with established procedures.
• Selectively apply a variety of procedures in measuring data, using judgment to determine how standard guidelines apply; may calibrate and use a variety of display, measuring, and/or calculating equipment requiring a few adjustments for proper results.
• Assist with data collection when needed.
• Maintain a variety of complex records; suggest or make improvements to record-keeping procedures.
• Perform audits of own work or that of others to ensure conformance with established procedures.
• Provide administrative support.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent writing skills
• Strong clerical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Ability to exercise judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
• Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
• Accessing paper files and moving them for processing.
• Rarely writing by hand.
