My name is JJ and I'm a 26 year old, male 4th year phd student in the philosophy department at Stanford. I'm mostly a quiet person who is trying to get their dang dissertation done with. Otherwise, I enjoy board games (1 minute chess, anyone?), hiking, biking, and going out for drinks. Would enjoy having some sort of friendship with housemates, but am also happy keeping mostly to myself. Cleaning is my preferred way to de-stress, and I enjoy sharing meals and keeping a clean kitchen.
Timeline: I'd move tomorrow if I found the right place. My current lease isn't up until Aug 22. I could also even hold off until Sept 1 if I found the right place.
Location: Biking distance to Stanford is a huge plus. For me, that's anything within 8 or 10 miles. So, let's say San Carlos to Mountain View.
Price Range: Under 1300 (utilities included) is the ideal. But this is negotiable (especially for a furnished room).
Animals: This is tricky. I do not have a pet. I have an emotional support animal. He is a ten year old dachshund, 11 lbs, quiet, and friendly. I have paperwork from a therapist for him. Landlords are not allowed to discriminate against tenants with emotional support animals (http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/california-laws-psychiatric-service-dogs-emotional-support-animals-public-places.html). This means that if this ad sounds appealing to you, but your landlord has said 'no pets,' I still qualify, and would be happy to work out details with your landlord. I'll attach a photo below.
