Jon Krosnick is a Professor of Communication, Political Science, and
Psychology and is looking for part-time Federal Work Study
undergraduates to work with him during the 2017-2018 academic year.
This is a very enjoyable job with flexible hours and a lot of variety.
You will have the opportunity to work directly with Professor
Krosnick and his team of post-docs, graduate students, and
undergraduate collaborators on a wide variety of research projects.
The projects address a wide variety of issues, including how and why
people vote and how people decide for whom to vote, how the news
media influence people's thinking about politics, how citizens become
passionate about specific political issues, how to conduct surveys to
accurately measure what people think, and much more.
Your work will include being part of a team collecting and analyzing
data and writing up findings for presentations and
publications. Students who work in the lab for an extended period
often have the opportunity to take the lead in designing and carrying
our projects and writing publishable co-authored research papers.
No experience is necessary - we will teach you everything you need to
know. You will learn a variety of useful skills working with us, and
we will be able to write you a letter of recommendation for graduate
school or for getting a job.
Pay rate: $16 per hour
You will be given your own office space and computer to work on.
How to Apply: Email your resume and a cover letter and a list of the
courses you have taken at Stanford along with the grades you received
to comm-studentservices@lists.stanford.edu and to Professor Krosnick
(krosnick@stanford.edu) with the subject heading 'Krosnick Research - FWS'
Please be sure in your note to indicate that you have been awarded
Federal Work Study by Stanford, and indicate the maximum amount of
money Stanford has awarded you to earn through the work study
program. If you're not sure whether you are eligible for work study
or are not sure of your award amount, you can contact the financial
aid office to ask.
