As a first-generation and low-income student, I have been tutoring since high school to support my family and fund my education. My hard work has helped me earn multiple scholarships, including a fully funded Bachelor's and Master's at Stanford. I recently graduated and will be an incoming medical student in the fall. As I am saving money to fund my MD, I thought I'd put my tutoring and test-taking skills out there again.
I have tutored on a wide variety of subjects, and have taken pretty much every test under the sun. My strengths are in Verbal (reading), Writing, and Math, Spanish, Biology, U.S. history, Human geography, and English literature. I scored above the 95 percentile for the GRE, SAT, ACT, and all 5's on my AP exams.
Why Tutoring: The biggest plus of tutoring is that it's personalized. I emphasize the importance of strategy and dedicated study more than anything else. I can guide you through strategies that work for you (or your child) and can help you build a personalized study schedule to make the most of our time.
Rate: range is $30-50/hr depending on the subject(s) or test(s). More affordable long-term packages are available.
Location: I can meet in person if you are within 2-3 miles vicinity of Stanford. Otherwise, Skype and my iPad screenshare whiteboard have worked perfectly fine for my remote tutees. The first session is 50% off :)
