The Cancer Survivorship Research Team (CSRT) at Stanford University is seeking applicants for a volunteer student research assistant position on an exciting clinical trial.
Description of Research Project:
As many as 80% of cancer patients experience sleep problems. We are conducting a study funded by the National Cancer Institute to test the efficacy of a brief behavioral therapy aimed at treating and preventing sleep difficulties in breast cancer patients. Applying both subjective and objective measurements, we hope to better understand the sleep problems that breast cancer patients encounter.
Qualifications:
-Current Stanford University student
-Previous research experience and/or attention to detail is highly valued
Student Responsibilities:
The primary function of the research assistant is to work closely with our team of research coordinators to fulfill detail-oriented data entry, administer cognitive assessments to cancer patients and survivors in a hospital-setting, and prepare study-related materials.
Time Commitment:
Given the specialized training and the nature of cancer research, we require a one-year minimum commitment with 6 hours per week between 9AM and 6PM, Monday-Friday.
Shift hours can be determined upon hire.
Value:
Research Assistants will receive highly valuable research experience in a randomized controlled, clinical trial with various cancer populations. Research Assistants can expect to learn medical terminology while working on a multidisciplinary team that combines medicine, psychology, and neuroscience. Especially dedicated and interested students may have opportunities to work closely with our post-doctoral fellow, Dr. Mallory Cases in meeting manuscript and grant writing deadlines.
If interested, please email your cover letter and resume to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Oxana Palesh at opalesh@stanford.edu and our team at cancerwellness@stanford.edu. Thank you!
