My lease for my apartment will be ending September 1 and I am strongly considering moving out and finding a new place. I currently live in Palo Alto, 2 miles away from Stanford and just around the corner from California Ave, and although I love the nice bike commute, I'm unhappy with the organization of the 2 bed/1 bath apartment and the roommate experiences I've had there. I would love to stay in Palo Alto if possible, but I know there are some slightly cheaper options in the Bay Area so I would be willing to look farther away for a nicer apartment.
My preferences are as follows:
-- willing to live as far west as Redwood City and as far east as Mountain View/Sunnyvale
-- must have a reasonable bike commute and/or close proximity to a shuttle/bus/Caltrain station because I don't drive
-- month-to-month lease preferred, but I might be able to do year-long lease or shorter (I would probably move out August for grad school)
-- female(s) as roommates only!
-- studio or 1 bed/bath for $2,000 or less (if those even exist here!), or a room in a 2 bed/2 bath for $2,000 or less. I really prefer to have my own bathroom at this point, but if I move into a 2 bed/1 bath place again, I would like the rent to be cheaper than what I've been paying here in Palo Alto ($1.7k/month). No living rooms in a studio please! Would also be open to 3 bed/2 bath places w/female roommates as well.
-- preferably in a quiet area/neighborhood with respectful/tidy/quiet roommates because I'm sensitive to noise
-- I don't mind living with small dogs, and I don't mind overnight guests as long as they don't stay for a long time. I sometimes have people stay with me for a weekend once in a blue moon, so I would like to have that option as well
-- not essential, but it would be great to be near downtown or near a grocery store, or a street with places to eat, etc.
