Hello! My name is Patrick Reyes and I’m an incoming Lab Manager for Dr. Jeanne Tsai’s Culture and Emotion Lab at Stanford University. I live in Delaware and currently am finishing up a BS in Neuroscience and a BA in Psychology at the University of Delaware (UD). I am currently looking for roommates and/or living accommodations so that I can work at Stanford. I have an expected move-in date sometime around mid-to-late June.

Some things to know about me:

- I was born in the Philippines but moved to Delaware at the age of 9. I am fluent in Tagalog, English, and Spanish.

- I get along well with most everyone. My friends gave me the nickname “Panda Pat” (on account of my being big, cuddly, and Asian).

- I am generally cool with whatever and whomever: so long as you’re not a spider, then we’re good.

- I play a classical guitar and have studied under a professor here at UD, with an emphasis on classical, Spanish, and flamenco music.

- I enjoy going to the gym. I love weight-lifting and using the rowing machine. I also enjoy hikes and long strolls.

- I love hanging out with people (i.e. chill in the living room, grab a bite out, etc.), but I also enjoy some “me-time” (i.e. stay inside, or just wander about, etc.).

- I like to play strategy games on my PC. Civilization 6 is a favorite of mine.

- My favorite shows on Netflix are Narcos, The West Wing, and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. I also watch Game of Thrones (I identify heavily with Samwell Tarly).

- My favorite movie of all time is The King’s Speech. I’ve also seen all the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I enjoy a good documentary.

- My Spotify is dominated by four things: The Black Keys, The Wu-Tang Clan, flamenco, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Really, I like to listen to most genres.

- I like good acting in plays, TV, and movies. I’m even taking a method acting class right now just for fun.

- I’ve always wanted to see more plays, operas, and orchestras, but options are slim in Delaware.

- I enjoy learning about history, culture, and general trivia. I’ve been useful for plenty of trivia nights or when playing along while watching Jeopardy!.

- I like to cook, especially if it’s for others. I’d be more than happy preparing dinner, or even a tapas night with recipes I learned in a restaurant in Granada, Spain. I also enjoy the occasional bourbon and I enjoy making cocktails for friends.

- I like listening to audiobooks or those recorded lectures you can get on Audible (am finishing up one on the history of food, am also listening to one on music history).

- I like to think I get along well with most people. I enjoy the art of a good conversation (deep conversations, light-hearted, philosophical, scientific, personal stuff, general venting, etc.) and I love good joke (clever, corny, memes, improv, etc.).

- Some may call me a nerd, but I like to think that I just have a lot of interests, or a foot in many doors.

I could go on, but I think I covered the basics, but now onto more logistical roommate-y stuff. I like to keep neat and organized. I’d like a general fairness and equality in household responsibilities, but I’m also and am more than happy helping clean for the collective (i.e. dishes, trash, bathroom, living room, etc.). I can also cook meals for roommates if needed.

I am adaptable and open to almost any arrangement. My work schedule would dictate my sleep schedule, but only the most egregious noise would keep me up late at night. Even then, I can typically function on as little as 5 hours of sleep. I’d like to be able to walk or take public transportation to work. I am planning on having a bike and am not currently planning on having a car, though that may change.

I am not a smoker, but I wouldn’t be bothered by it from others so long as it does not 1) set off any fire alarms, 2) cause a permanent aroma and/or haze, or 3) trigger my asthma (it’s only seasonal asthma though). I’m also cool with other friends of roommates hanging out with us; hell, I’d also like to get to know them too. I have no known allergies (food or animal) and am more than okay having pets in the house. For example, I’d enjoy taking part in caring for and befriending a dog.

I like to think that I get along with most people and would like to spend time and become friends with my roommates, but I can also respect boundaries as needed. Again, I am generally cool with whatever and whomever. Either way, I’d like to at least be a good partner as a roommate and am willing to share both what I have and what I can do to make our place feel as much like a home as possible.

If you are interested in working on a roommate/living arrangement or if you know someone else who would, please do not hesitate to contact me. My email is reyes.patrick207@gmail.com and my cellphone number is (302)-562-5004. I look forward to getting to Palo Alto to begin my work and meet plenty of interesting people!

With Thanks and Sincerely,

P. Reyes
