The Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP) is seeking a Student Editorial Associate to support Stanford eCorner and the Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders (ETL) series. ETL features talks by leading innovators and entrepreneurs like Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, and venture capitalists like Arlan Hamilton (Backstage Capital) and 23andMe co-founder and CEO Anne Wojcicki. The content on eCorner is used by more than 250 educational institutions and informs and inspires thousands of students around the globe.
The student editorial associate will create educational materials for our global audience of aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators. Tasks will include:
Writing packaging materials for 50-minute lectures and interviews focused on entrepreneurship and innovation, featuring entrepreneurial leaders like Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan and Nextdoor CEO Sarah Friar.
Reviewing lectures and interviews by entrepreneurial leaders and selecting short video clips to add to our library of entrepreneurship teaching materials.
Writing short descriptions of video clips.
Writing metadata for video clips.
STVP’s mission is to accelerate entrepreneurship education at Stanford and around the world. As the entrepreneurship center in Stanford’s School of Engineering, STVP delivers courses and extracurricular programs to Stanford students, creates scholarly research on high-impact technology ventures, and produces a large and growing collection of online content and experiences for people around the world.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a strong writer who is interested in building editorial skills while exploring content focused on entrepreneurship and innovation. Given our emphasis on public-facing educational materials, an interest in education (whether K-12, higher ed, ed-tech or educational nonprofits) and/or journalism is also a plus. Working with the STVP staff, the Student Editorial Associate will play a vital role in helping deliver on our mission to translate content and insights from our Stanford programming to a global audience.
The hourly rate will reflect the Stanford pay scale for hourly undergrad/grad student employment, and will generally require between 5 and 10 hours of work every week during Stanford’s academic quarters, with the bulk of the work happening between 5:30pm PST on Wednesday evening and noon on Friday. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume and short writing sample to lukesykora@stanford.edu by September 25, 2020.
