Ursa Major’s team moves fast and does a lot with little. We are looking for a skilled, fast learning individual who will support our engine design efforts. This role will be part of the technical organization, responsible for clean sheet design of a variety of engine hardware.

Primary Responsibilities

• Thorough understanding of oxygen rich staged combustion engine design, manufacturing and testing
• Clean sheet design of various engine components including thrust chambers, injectors, preburners and igniters
• Design modifications of existing components and prototypes to increase performance, improve manufacturability or resolve limitations
• Collaborating with team members to write, review, and update work instructions for assembly of engine components as well as establish appropriate acceptance and qualification tests
• Assembly and testing of first article prototypes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 5+ years of relevant combustor design experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with computer aided design and drafting
• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
• Working knowledge of and hands-on experience with fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems
• Strong understanding of industry standards and requirements
• Desire to take ownership and help wherever needed on the team
• Desired Experience
• Design for metal additive manufacturing processes
• Liquid propellant rocket engine design, test, or analysis
• Experience with structural, thermal, and fluid analysis using FEA software
• 3+ years of PTC Creo or Siemens NX CAD software and Windchill PLM software
