Scientific Sales

This is not what you think. In this case, sales does not mean: “Mind you, I don't know whether you've really considered the advantages of owning a really fine set of modern encyclopaedias.” Our sales process is highly technical and involves peer-to-peer interaction with highly motivated scientists, including all aspects of product adoption by the customer. You will become a world class expert in our technology and product, and communicate that understanding to customers.

So, we seek a technically-oriented extrovert for this position in an exciting, fast-paced neurotech company with an existing product used in neurophysiology research and an established customer base in academia and pharma. We are rolling out analysis software in 2021, and position will require understanding and supporting the sale of an integrated product, from disposable (implantable) to lab instrument and software. Excellent existing engineering team will provide backup on user and technical support. This will be first full-time dedicated sales hire in a company of 8 employees.

We are more concerned with the right mix of underlying skills and traits (communicative, outgoing, flexible, highly competent) than with prior sales experience.

Required:

• High level of technical competence
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to create proposals and supporting sales documents as needed
• Demonstrated aptitude for working independently and staying motivated
• Demonstrated ability to achieve high level of technical competence (some examples might be: earning of Ph.D. degree in a scientific or engineering field, prior technical sales experience, excellence in previous on-the-job technical position.)

Desired:

• domain expertise/experience in neurophysiology
• willingness to relocate to Washington DC/Baltimore area
