As part of Nitrome Biosciences' growth and path towards the clinic, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Research Associate with extensive hands-on assay development expertise. The successful candidate will develop binding and biochemical assays for target profiling and compound screening including medium and high throughput enzymatic assay development and FP, SPR, Octet or other readouts of compounds binding to targets while using equipment suitable for low-to-medium throughput automated robotics. Development of these assays for high throughput screening is also required.

This position requires enthusiasm and a strong work ethic, the ability to learn new biology and methods quickly, and to problem-solve creatively. The SRA will work to screen compounds that target our novel enzymes, to develop new assays to measure the activity and characteristics of novel enzymes as they are discovered, and to ensure high quality data that are accurate and reproducible. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and utilize their knowledge of drug discovery and development assays to advance programs.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, optimize, perform, and QC biochemical assays required to support Nitrome Biosciences’ drug discovery efforts, including amongst others: enzymatic activity assays, FP, SPR and Octet based assays using manual pipetting and automation
- Collect, analyze, and present experimental data regularly at team meetings
- Maintain clear and complete experimental records with an electronic lab notebook and
compound database
- Support junior research associates as needed
- Use assay expertise to serve as point person for troubleshooting assay development
problems as they arise
- Use affinity chromatography to isolate proteins and peptides

Requirements:

- Ph.D./M.S./B.S. with 5+ years of industry experience
- Proven track record of successful development of medium to high throughput assays to measure effect of compounds on targets
- Proven ability to generate precise and reproducible data, both manually and with automation
- Creative problem-solver; ability to quickly troubleshoot problems
- Desire to acquire knowledge and skills in a new area of biology
- Ability to communicate ideas and data in a clear and concise manner
- Strong organization, record keeping with ELN, and priority management skills
