Job description
As a Principal Systems Software Engineer, you will be responsible for design, implementation, and debug of software in Multibeam’s electron-beam lithography system. We’re just about to bring our product to market — something that will enable a whole new class of microelectronics technology, impacting everything from the next generation IoT (internet of things) to data centers. Our team is managed by some of the brightest in Silicon Valley, including Dr. David K. Lam, founder and prior CEO of Lam Research (>$80 billion market cap). We’re looking for creative individuals interested in working in our tight-knit, interdisciplinary team.
This role requires experience in specification, design, programming, test, and debug, of embedded equipment control systems, Linux drivers, and the high-level C++/Python software controlling the embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in C++ and embedded software development.
This position is based at our headquarters in Santa Clara, California.

Functions and responsibilities
• Develop and improve C++ and custom embedded systems software on Linux platforms
• Develop test methodology and scripts for regression tests
• Optimize and profile CPU, memory, I/O peripheral resources, etc. for best performance
• Hands-on practical skills working with EEs to develop or debug ARM or x86 platforms.
• Innovate where needed and show leadership and ownership to get great results.
Skills and experience
• Previous experience working on any of consumer computers, or Tablets, or cellphones.
• General familiarity with low-level device drivers on consumer compute platforms including boot-level (ie uboot, BIOS) and runtime services.
• C, C++, Python, build and debug tools focused on platforms like tablets, computers, Raspberry Pi and others. Experience with basic electronics lab tools.
Education and training
•B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering (EE), computer science (CS), or related fields
