Who are we?

90% of cancer deaths can be attributed to treatment-resistant tumors. We built a wet lab and in silico drug discovery platform to develop cancer treatments that overcome resistance. We are looking for team members to help us discover new cancer therapies that can treat the 545,000 patients in the US every year who run out of treatment options.

We are agile, innovative, resilient, adaptive, and direct; we think carefully about the best solution to a given challenge and then rapidly deploy it.

Platform: The cancer resistome is any biological process or mechanism that results in the tumor not responding to treatment. We developed the first in vitro cancer evolution model (the ResCu system®) that mimics natural tumor response and resistance to treatment. ResCu defines the cancer resistome for tumors evading treatment that are outside of the already identified evolutionary paradigms. ResCu helps build and inform our proprietary cancer resistome database to generate tumor-specific therapies to exploit new clinically relevant targets.

Who are you?

You see treatment resistance as the defining barrier to curative cancer therapies and want to solve it. You are an experienced and self-motivated Research Associate – Cancer Biology with expertise in working with cancer cells who can quickly set up and run multiple projects at the same time. You understand that cell culture is time intense and are exceptional at scheduling and time management. You are a detail-oriented and process-focused scientist with an eye for scalable efficiency. You enjoy operating in a regulated environment (CLIA, ISO, GLP).

What’s the opportunity?

You will help implement the ResCu System. Your focus will be on refining and running the Organoid system processes to optimize our lab output.

Process Development: Run and optimize the ResCu System.

Cell Culture: Operating the ResCu System, hands-on, in the hood cell culture.

Cell Culture Training: Working with and training team members so that they exceed your high standards.

You know how to do cancer cell culture and enjoy the process. You will identify what else will need to get done and help us set timelines and budgets.

You are.

Agile: An execution-focused doer.

Innovative: An organized, detailed-oriented systems thinker.

Resilient: A dependable, subject matter expert that sees problems as opportunities.

Adaptive: Can identify, communicate, and execute new opportunities.

Direct: A professional growth mindset, comfortable giving and receiving direct feedback.

Passionate about drug discovery

A college graduate (ideally bachelors or higher) with at least 1 years’ wet lab experience working in a cancer research lab.

What do you get?

• You will help us overcome cancer treatment resistance and change how cancer is treated.
• Full-time, San Carlos
• Competitive salary and stock options
• Health insurance (PPO), Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance
