The Schumer lab is hiring students to help with swordtail fish care and research projects. FWS is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities include feeding fish, maintenance of fish room facilities and tanks, helping with experiments including behavioral trials and sample collection, and keeping detailed records of all work. Reliability and strong organizational skills are essential parts of this position as are the ability to work closely with other lab members and communicate clearly about fish care and projects. Past coursework in biology is preferred for this position and exceptionally qualified candidates will have past experience working with animals.
Hours are flexible both in terms of daily schedule and number of hours per week; we anticipate that successful candidates will work between 6-10 hours per week. Opportunities exist for extending the work-study position to subsequent quarters and to ongoing research experiences in the lab.
