Sleep remains one of the most exciting and enigmatic subjects for scientific and clinical inquiry. We continue to discover how sleep profoundly impacts health and wellness. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), one of the most common sleep disorders, affects at least a third of the U.S. population. With repetitive reduction of airflow during sleep as a result of upper airway collapse, OSA is a major burden to health and wellness. I am seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join a renowned surgical team and optimize OSA care. Contemporary surgical treatment for OSA includes procedures of the nose, soft palate, tongue, and the facial skeleton. Our ongoing projects include AI integration of sleep endoscopy, snoring sound, ultrasound imaging, and genetic data. Our ideal scholar should have core expertise in a number of the areas described, and is excited to incorporate expertise from the Stanford ecosystem. A key collaborator is Professor Pierre Khuri-Yakub of the Stanford electrical engineering department, with whom we aim to apply ultrasound technology in tissue repair.

Required Qualifications:

1. MD, PhD, or equivalent, in biomechanical engineering or related fields
2. Experience with managing cross-disciplinary projects
3. Strong communication skills to organize conference, journal, and grant submissions
4. Excited about the science of breathing and sleep!

Required Application Materials:

1. Cover letter describing research experience, contributions to the field, continuing goals, and expectations
2. CV including a complete list of publications
3. Contact information for three references
