Data Scientist/Engineer: Energy Optimization and Modeling
As an optimization expert, you will join our Industry Solutions team, which is a fast paced, results-oriented hands-on group focusing on delivering end-to-end business and technical solutions to AutoGrid’s customers and partners. The solutions delivered include AutoGrid Flex and AutoGrid Engage suite of applications along with newer big data and data science driven applications, built on the industry leading Energy Internet Platform.
Your primary role will be to run simulations and analytics for portfolio optimization of distributed energy resources. This will involve sizing DERs (example storage power, capacity) optimal for the customers and delivering results to customers in business friendly presentations. Alongside, you will provide consultative support to potential customers on right-sizing the portfolio, operational constraints, best-use rate and tariffs and other market dynamics. Additionally, clustering for segmentation analysis, time-series forecasting and other machine learning applications will be in scope.
Desired Skills / Experience
● Background in optimization, operations research, forecasting and energy modeling
● Exposure to industry leading optimization tools and research like AMPL
● Python programming required; VBA exposure will be nice to have to maintain existing models
● Proven track record in the energy industry - preferably in solar, storage, renewables trading and wholesale energy markets
● Strong electricity industry knowledge is expected; electric vehicles and virtual power plants exposure is a plus.
● Outstanding communication skills appropriate for C-suite audiences; ability to track and report on key project metrics, relationship to business objectives, and other success criteria in a clear and compelling manner.
● BS/MS/PhD in engineering/science or equivalent work experience
