Job Description

Ampcera Inc. is looking for a Battery Material Scientist with strong hands-on experience in solid-state battery material synthesis and processing. The role will include battery material processing, cell design, assembly, characterization and data analysis. The opportunity is open to a junior or senior level position depending on qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Work with Ampcera’s battery R&D team to develop high performance solid state electrolytes and their processing technologies
• Design, assemble and analyze battery cells ranging from coin cells, split cells to pouch cells in size
• Develop battery testing and postmortem analysis methods, maintain battery testing equipment, analyze and manage data.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to generate intellectual property.
• Work with the team to develop funding proposals, manage projects, and write technical reports.
• Lead and train supporting technicians to carry out research related tasks and guide material scale-up processing.
• Interact with sales team and customers to assist in product related problem solving.
• Work collaboratively with partnering labs and research groups.
• Communicate experimentation design, results, and solutions with the technical team.

Qualifications:

• At minimum a master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science and Engineering with an emphasis in inorganic chemistry or ceramic processing.
• Have an in-depth understanding of solid-state electrolytes and solid-state batteries.
• Hands-on experience in battery pouch cell design (in either liquid or solid systems), assembly and testing is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in battery electrode materials processing.
• Out-of-the-box thinking style and creative experimentation skills
• Proficient in electrochemical characterization techniques such as EIS, CV, galvanostatic charge-discharge, etc.
• Proficient in materials characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, etc.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, as well as good habits in documentation and data-organization.
• Capable of adapting to industrial research environment.
• Good intercultural communication and people management skills.
• Efficient in time management and safety awareness
• Ability to work with autonomy, proactive, strong self-discipline and organized lifestyle is a must.
• Must pass drug test and criminal background check before employment.
