Greetings! My name is Sonia and I'm a PhD candidate at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, conducting dissertation research on how multiracial families navigate the college admissions process.
I am seeking to interview high school seniors, their parents, and (if applicable) their siblings who have already gone through the college admissions process. I am seeking families with multiracial backgrounds, so parents should identify with different ethnic/racial categories (e.g. one parent identifies as Latinx and one parent identifies as Asian; both parents may also identify as multiracial). I am particularly looking to increase representation of multiracial Black and Latinx families, as well as students who identify as men, but am open to all multiracial families.
Participation in this study would entail a 2-3 interviews; parents and college applicants can expect to be interviewed 1-2 times between the present and March, and then again after college decisions come back. If applicable, siblings can expect one 30-60 minute interview. Interviews will be conducted over zoom. At the conclusion of each interview, each participant will be compensated 20 dollars in recognition of their time.
Information from this study will be kept confidential. Please reach out directly to me at sgiebel@stanford.edu or (206) 393-7241 if you have any questions, as well as to indicate your interest in participating in the study.
