Join an internship program at a startup (backed by Verily) that is transforming eyecare, based in South
San Francisco, CA. We are looking for a Software Engineer Intern to collaborate with our team and help
build exceptional medical devices for eyecare. We need an energetic and passionate engineer with a
desire to gain industry experience in design, coding, deployment, testing and debugging of software and
firmware. You will work with project leads and other cross-functional teammates to help develop safe,
user-friendly, and efficacious biomedical devices. You will implement software and firmware best practices
for deployment on real-time HW/SW systems.
This is a hybrid onsite/work from home role, which requires onsite visits to our South San Francisco
offices. Intern would ideally be able to work part time during the school year.
Responsibilities:
● Design and implement software and firmware to run on medical devices and lab equipment
● Develop an automated testing rig to assist with stress testing a new product under research
● Design and develop real-time embedded applications in C/C++
● Design Python code and other scripts to communicate with embedded software devices
● Contribute to a culture of correct, efficient, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code
● Present data and designs to colleagues
● Create documents to describe software features, ramp-up procedures, etc
Experience and attributes we’d like you to have:
● Working towards a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer
Science, or equivalent skill set
● 0-2 years software development experience in Python
● 0-2 years software/firmware development experience in C/C++
● Basic knowledge of computer networking protocols (IP, SSH, FTP)
● Basic knowledge of Linux and Windows scripting
● Microcontroller-based development
● Be self motivated to set and meet goals
● Obsessive about quality and correctness
● Desire to document features for internal and external developers
