Hello!
The Immersion Foundation is looking for two motivated and diligent Media Interns for a period of 3-6 months, to assist the Founder / Chairman of the Foundation and work closely with the core TIF team on a variety of multimedia projects and events to archive, preserve, and promote various martial arts traditions of the world.
In essence, interns will learn valuable skills that can strengthen or help launch their careers, all while contributing toward an exciting and progressive cause and learning about martial arts from some of the most unique and rare sources.
Once you are here:
Your focus will be on contributing to and in the process learning skills in some or all of the following areas - Videography (with high-end 4k camera), Photography, Audio/Video Editing, Graphic Design, Event Planning, Publishing, and Print & Digital Marketing.
You will develop the above skills as you work on assisting with several of TIF’s upcoming events / projects:
-Hosting and organizing TIF’s 4th Immersion Lab, a one-of-a-kind global seminar that brings together Martial Arts Ambassadors from around the world for multi-day immersion;
-Managing social media content creation and promotion for TIF’s projects and events;
-Documenting disappearing martial arts in local and international expeditions;
-Creating ongoing issues of the The Immersion Review, a scholarly publication featuring martial art traditions from around the world, archived in several major university libraries;
-Launching podcast and video series for ongoing research & archival work.
Relevant experience and mindset:
The ideal candidate for these positions would be a recent college or high school graduate who is looking to learn real-world skills and gain hands-on experience in Media, Design, Marketing, and Event Planning.
Experience in the following areas is not required but a huge bonus: working with professional video cameras, video editing, graphic design, and social media promotions / marketing.
The ideal candidate should be willing to learn with an open mind, be reliable and punctual, and communicate in a clear, responsible manner. Interns will be working closely with both the Chairman and members of the core TIF team and will be an important face of TIF at public-facing events, and as such, expected to bring professionalism into all that they do.
What will the Foundation offer you ?
This process allows you to learn skills needed to manage the lifecycle of creating / launching complete media experiences and events in an immersive fashion.
At the end of the internship, you will receive a written recommendation by both the Chairman and the Media Director.
If this collaboration goes well, there will be the opportunity to continue working on the TIF Media team for international expeditions with all travel expenses paid.
There may also be the opportunity to work for the foundation in a paid position.
In addition to all of the above, during the course of the internship the intern may attend classes at
Mountain View Aiki Arts at no cost ($250/month value) and learn the art of Aiki Ju-Jutsu. While not mandatory, this is a great opportunity to immerse oneself in martial arts while gaining media skills!
