Position Summary

We are looking for registered Stanford students, either undergraduate or graduate, to tutor local 9th-12th grade high school students on English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies courses, mainly focusing on Literature, Composition, US / World History, US Government and Economics. Tutoring format will be online, occasionally in-person.

Job Description

* Provide one-on-one tutoring in Literature, Composition, World and U.S. History, Government, and / or Economics for grade level 9-12.
* Guide and support students in homework, preparation for tests and writing assignments.
* Customize tutoring style and approach based on the needs of individual students.
* Provide a quick and accurate summary on tutoring topics & each student’s progress & challenges after each tutoring session.


Qualifications Required

* Current registered Stanford students.
* Solid subject matter knowledge in one or more of these areas: ELA, World and U.S. History, Government, and Economics for grade 9-12.
* Act as a positive role model.
* Availability for tutoring at least twice a week is preferred
* The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, proficient in using online scheduling and video tools. Capable of working in a highly dynamic, online teaching setting.
* Candidates must be prepared to teach and tutor high school level contents immediately, no training required.

Compensation

* $35-$50/hour
* Payment will be issued twice a month
