Hi! We have one room available from now until July 31st in our (fairly covid-safe) three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. The Avalon apartment is located within walking distance from downtown Mountain View and the Caltrain station and is generally an excellent place to live at a surprisingly great rent-controlled(!) rate.

You'd be sharing the full bathroom with a rising senior who's a psychology major who likes crafts, learning, singing, and disability advocacy. She's very neat and clean, and as long as the bathroom is kept similarly, she's fine with anyone.

Costs:
* Base rent: 1100/month for this room (room B in the photos)
* Utilities + internet: ~$70/month/person (~$210 across 3 people w/ some discounts — that said, utility rates are rising in the area.)

About the room:
The room is 9' x 12' and has great natural light (no overhead lighting; you'll need to provide your own, but I can lend you a lamp), view of trees and a usually quiet parking lot. It faces the morning sun, with partial shade from a nearby tree keeping things cool in summer, as well as not being on the top floor so we avoid the sun heating the roof throughout the day.
The room comes is currently furnished with desk and hutch, a fancy leather desk chair, a twin-XL bed and frame with under-bed storage, and a small trash can.

The complete set of photos can be found at https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhA0b1nsQ70hgoRBJQbVFHJfIi1n7Q?e=KQDkif since I can't upload all the photos here. Your room is labelled as Room "B" in the bottom left of the photos.

About YOU:
Nice, friendly, respectful, communicative, non-smoking, and somewhat quiet (complex's quiet hours are from 10pm-8am, but we try not to disturb neighbors, etc.), not a big party hoster (occasional small tasteful evening affairs are fine). (I promise we're less of a bore than this is making us sound!)
And for everyone's health and safety, please be vaccinated and boosted, and continue to take covid somewhat seriously when cases are on the rise: wearing good-fitting N95/KN95/KF94 masks when out in indoor spaces or in crowds when you can. (A surprising number of coworkers have long covid and it's not something we want to risk.) This does not include in the apartment; this is your home, after all!

Apartment:
* In-unit washer & dryer
* Dishwasher / Fridge
* Private balcony
* 2nd floor apartment
* Full kitchen, complete living room, separate dining area
* Air conditioning (wall unit) / baseboard heat (though we rarely need either)

Community:
* Great service and maintenance, responsive owners
* Amazon locker for all your packages to keep them safe (though I've never seen a package stolen even when the lockers are full)
* Fitness center
* Weekly food trucks
* Really pretty lush grounds
* Well-reviewed by tenants
* Easy & free parking
* Close proximity to: downtown Mountain View (food, events, & Caltrain), Google campus, San Antonio shopping center (groceries [Safeway/Trader Joes/Walmart/Target], theater), several parks (and a skate park)
* Free Mountain View shuttle
* Nice pool & fountain
* Patio & barbecue area
* Community events and contests
* Dog park + lots of dog friends in the complex (and 2 neighborhood cats that are pretty dope)
* Community pool/bbq parties + pet days
* About a 10-15 minute drive to Stanford

About me:
A recent Stanford humanities-loving engineering grad. Kind, thoughtful, welcoming, curious, and empathetic. I know a little about a lot of things, so can hold a conversation about almost anything, and always want to learn more or teach if someone else is curious. I skate (inline and longboard), listen to a lot of NPR podcasts, vidja game occasionally, geocache and explore cool places with friends, and try to improve the world in little ways here and there.
I enjoy fixing things and recognize when things need fixing, so the apartment is generally in excellent operational shape. I'll occasionally have a friend over, sometimes overnight, but not terribly often, and try to never disturb. I'm pretty quiet when on my own, as I always use headphones, though I do listen to radio/podcasts when I shower (roommates say it's no bother). I don't cook too much anymore, though I'd love to learn more, but I do have a lot of cooking stuff which you're welcome to use if you take care of it (I do have high standards for equipment upkeep, though :p)
I try to be the best roommate I can be and am equally happy chatting for hours as I am just saying hi on the way back to our rooms. I'm equally comfortable with any gender, and value diversity. (Oh, I'm a guy, by the way!) Really I just want everyone to be happy, and am sure that you will be!

If you're interested, please (don't click reserve; it doesn't work the way you think it does! but instead) reply to the ad with:
* some info about you,
* any questions you might have,
* acknowledgement of the mask preferences and your willingness to share the same mindset,
* and preferably some of your availability to have a chat / tour (in person, zoom, teams, google meet, etc. are all fine). We're trying to fill the room ASAP!

I really believe in finding good community so I'm looking to fill the rooms with the right people, so please reach out if you think you'd fit and the ad is still posted!
I look forward to meeting you! :D
