About the role
We’re looking for graduates from a range of degrees for different areas across our business. This requisition is for the role of Graduate Hydrogeology based at Rio Tinto Kennecott in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As the successful candidate, your role will include:
• Day-to-day surveillance of open pit hydrogeological infrastructure (piezometers, wells, drains, and surface water) performance, evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization
• Analyze and evaluate both open pit and underground hydrogeological data
• Support integration of surface water management plan with Mine Planning and Operations teams
• Day-to-day integration with the open pit Geotechnical team to ensure hydrogeological priorities are managed
• Integration of Hydrology/Mine Water Service infrastructure with the short and mid-range Mine Planning/Operations teams
• Coordinating with the Mine Planning and Operations teams to optimize mine plans that will ensure the installation of new, and protection of existing, Hydrogeologic infrastructure is built into the mine plan
• Selection of open pit piezometer installation depths and well plans based on available hydrogeological data (geology, geophysics, drilling information, etc.)
• Supporting technical reviews through participation and presentations of current Mine hydrogeological conditions

What you’ll bring:
To be eligible for the Graduate program, you must have completed your studies within the last two years (2022, 2023) or working towards graduation in 2024.
• Bachelor or master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, Hydrology or Environmental Science
• Less than two years of relevant work experience (local and international)
• Right to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license
• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Leadership skills, eagerness to learn, and ready for the challenges ahead.
• Interest in working in a large complex industrial environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
