Welcome to Tango Saturdays – a day of rhythm, connection, and expression! Immerse yourself in the world of Argentine tango through a trio of captivating events. Explore Tango Foundations, a journey for beginners and new tango enthusiasts, followed by Foundations of Tango Musicality, delving deeper into the passionate art's "music/movement" relation. Finally, unwind with Tea & Tango Practica, where graceful moves intertwine with the rich flavours of pu erh tea. Join us for a day of dance, learning, and community on Saturdays that will leave you enchanted and energised.

Whether you're just starting your Tango Foundation series or you are a seasoned dancer, this workshop is designed for everyone, regardless of your musical background.
Many dancers focus on mastering the steps but miss the connection to the music. Dive into the core elements of tango's musical structure to enhance your dancing and find that elusive Flow.
First time or beginner tango dancers must take (or have taken) Tango Foundations to be eligible for this series!

Embark on a unique musical journey with exceptional singer Claudio Ortega and the brilliant musician Seth Asarnow, as they guide you through the enchanting and melodic tango narrative like no other.
Claudio Ortega, the Tango Singer of the Bay Area, is a native and transplant of Buenos Aires. He is known in the tango community for his warm and deep voice and the ability to connect emotionally with his audience. Claudio has performed for almost 20 years at the best milongas around the Bay Area, the San Fracisco Union Square, the Bing Musical Series at Stanford and the Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood.

Seth Asarnow, a native of the Bay Area, is among the finest tango musicians. Excelling on both piano and bandoneón, he has a repertoire consisting of hundreds of tangos. His signature playing is heard on recordings that range in style from traditional tango to pop. He was the featured soloist at the Hollywood Bowl with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. He also appeared on NBC's Dancing with the Stars, performing with the cast of Broadway show Forever Tango.

INSTRUCTOR, Karn Verma

Karn has previously taught at the Bechtel International Center at Stanford, Jikoji Zen Center in Los Gatos, and Friday Night Waltz & Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto. He dances many contemporary and historical dances and has been teaching tango since 2017. In the same year, he traveled to Buenos Aires to study Argentine tango intensely and recently returned from Rome after training with dancer, actor, and teacher, Pablo Verón. His teaching and social dance philosophy are inspired by Stanford dance teacher and historian, Richard Powers, who was instrumental in bringing tango to the United States in the 80s and 90s through the Stanford Tango Weeks.
