Associate
Granite Creek Capital Partners is seeking an individual with 2-4 years of experience to join our principal investment team as an Associate. The Associate will play an integral role in the process of sourcing, evaluating, and executing transactions as well as supporting the oversight of the Fund’s portfolio companies. In addition, the associate will work closely with the management team (typically the CEO and CFO) of Granite Creek’s portfolio companies on key strategy and growth initiatives. This role will provide extensive exposure to senior leadership of the firm: a successful candidate will be entrepreneurially-minded and comfortable communicating clearly and candidly with Granite Creek’s investment professionals, portfolio company executives, and third-party service providers. Specifically, the position’s foremost responsibilities include:
• Assess potential markets and find target companies across various industries and geographies
• Industry and company-specific due diligence and research
• Screening prospective investments and preparing recommendations for Granite Creek’s investment committee
• Granular financial modeling of prospective transactions and deal structures
• Ownership of detailed operational analytics in support of portfolio company executive teams
• Investment portfolio oversight and support (e.g. business development, financial planning & analysis activities, and evaluation of board materials)
• Fund & management company administration, including LP communications
Qualifications
We are seeking a talented and highly-motivated professional to join our team. Qualified candidates will have extensive financial modeling experience, an intuitive understanding of business’ operations, an outgoing personality who can develop relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds, exemplary communication skills, and demonstrate an entrepreneurial “do anything to get the job done” mentality. (S)he should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, human resource and capital challenges, with the ability to identify attractive investment opportunities. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and grit is a must. Preferred candidates will have the following:
• 1-4 years of experience at a top-tier investment bank, consulting firm, or leveraged finance group
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, industrial engineering, or similar
• Astute commercial sense, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and effective presentation abilities
• Analytical and logical, with raw intellectual ability
• Self-motivated and resourceful; able to multi-task and focus on delivering results
• Resilient, flexible, open to feedback and focused on achieving excellence
• Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the private equity environment
• Willingness to travel to support marketing, deal execution and portfolio management efforts
