Position:

The Accelerator Physicist will direct the procurement, installation acceptance testing, improvements, and troubleshooting guidance development of the electron beam accelerator and any future accelerator for commercial production of radioisotopes. This will also include any design, procurement, quality control, alignment, and commissioning activities of the entire beam line. The Accelerator Physics will interface with NorthStar Medical Radioisotope product engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations, and facilities along with third party vendors.

Responsibilities:

Lead equipment commission of accelerators and beam lines for isotope production.

Assist in the installation, alignment, and testing of accelerators, beam transport systems, and other related accelerator equipment.

Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of the accelerator systems and other ancillary accelerator equipment.
Lead in the development and optimization of the interface between accelerator and target systems.

Train Accelerator Operations staff on accelerator operations, tuning and critical machine parameters.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field and minimum six (6) years’ experience in the development or maintenance of particle accelerator related equipment. Familiarity with basic accelerator subsystems (vacuum, RF, magnets, etc), proven ability to use commercially available software for simulation of physical processes in particle accelerators, and strong understanding of monitoring, shielding, and safety aspects of work with ionizing radiation is also required.
