Gerber Kawasaki is one of the fastest growing and most influential independent Wealth and Investment Management firms in the country. We are searching for a Director of Tax to be the Internal expert responsible for managing the entire tax department. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to deal effectively with clients and management. This a unique opportunity for the right candidate to grow, joining our diverse, well-established and growing company.

This role is 100% in office 5 days/week, 8am-5pm; However please note that hours will change during tax season based on the needs and demands of the tax department.

Salary: $200K+, DOE

What we need:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent field – Masters in Taxation preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 3+ years with supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates
• CPA certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to apply critical thinking in daily tasks and research projects
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized
• Ability to review tax returns: Individuals, S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, Trusts and Estate
• Exceptional work ethic and integrity
• Financial services experience is highly preferred

Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare tax projections
• Maintain a working relationship with selected clients
• Perform compliance review and tax return signoff
• Handle client consultations on planning opportunities and changes in tax law
• Working on proposals and assisting in developing new business
• Meeting prospective clients and developing relationships with new and existing clients
• Expanding services to existing clients
• Supervising engagements and special projects undertaken by the firm
• Overseeing all aspects of the client engagement
• Supervising, training and evaluating advanced level staff
• Coaching, mentoring and assisting staff so they can develop and assist in the growth of the tax function
• Assist Partners on research, projects, planning
• Distinguish a personal reputation for excellence inside and outside the firm
